Toronto Dog Walking voting opens for Toronto’s TOP DOG Competition
TORONTO // 1st September 2016
The city’s favorite dog walking company, Toronto Dog Walking, is barking for the opening of the voting stage where dogs all ages and sizes enter the inaugural Toronto’s TOP DOG competition.
To enter, owners of Toronto’s coolest, funniest, cutest or social media star dogs were required to submit a snap of their dog to torontotopdog.com, along with a unique story that shows off its personality. The dogs are then entered into one of seven categories, according to their size and age.
A panel of four highly qualified, dog-loving judges and Toronto’s doggy-adoring public will then cast their votes along with the help of the public to narrow down the entries to just 28 dogs – four dogs from each of the seven size categories.
The judges will base their votes on the tale each dog has to tell, their cuteness factor and the originality of the uploaded photo.
The judging panel comprises:
Ashley Hyslop, TEAM Dog Rescue
Elizabeth Lima, Pawfectly Prepared Gourmet Pet Food
Suzana Curcija, Force-free Dog Training Expert
Dr. Scott Bainbridge, Veterinarian, co-founder of the Queen West Animal Hospital and founder of the Dundas West Animal Hospital
The 28 lucky dogs that make it through the initial voting process will be announced on September 22nd.
They will then be invited to the Toronto TOP DOG Finalist Ceremony on Sunday September 25th, where they will enjoy a Finalist Lunch, receive an exclusive Finalist bandana and partake in a mini professional photo-shoot to launch the finale of Toronto’s TOP DOG.
Toronto’s TOP DOG will win a variety of prizes including a Pet Sitting & Dog Walking voucher, a professional photo-shoot, a superb doggy bag and much more valued at over $750.
Owner of the city’s premier dog walking company, Toronto Dog Walking, Pam Curry said the number of entries was overwhelming but not surprising.
“We know Toronto has the best dogs in the world – funny, fluffy, skinny, scruffy… it takes all types and while we love them all, it’s time for Toronto’s dog lovers to vote and choose who this city’s TOP DOG is for 2016!” Ms Curry said.
The winner of Toronto’s TOP DOG will be 100% up to the voting public, and votes can be cast online from October 1 to 23. The overall winner will be announced on Monday 24 October.
You’ve heard that dogs are a man’s best friend… well, these two dogs were the best men at their parents’ wedding.
“Our dogs are truly our best friends. I had Meeko at just 7 months old and we have been inseparable ever since. To this day we do everything together, and he’s helped me get through everything that life has thrown my way. Eight years later, we adopted Kayo who is unique all on his own, being a rare 6-year-old lavender Pomeranian. Together, they travel with us all the time and were even the best men at our wedding.” – Toronto Top Dog Nominees, Meeko & Kayo
A dog at work to help other furfriends who aren’t as fortunate!
“Am I unique? Well, I have been told I’m one of a kind 😉 But what I am most proud of is using my social media outlets and my blog for good! I believe in the impawtance of helping other pets, pets that are not as fortunate as I am. I believe all furfriends deserve a safe and loving home, they deserve to be spoiled and cared for, they deserve a chance to run around the wonderful parks and go to pet events in our great city of Toronto! “ – Toronto Top Dog Nominee, Edie The Pug
A spokesdog for Breed Specific Legislation
“Zora Nista works diligently in high fashion as she brings Breed Specific Legislation Awareness to the public. Whether it be in parades, public events or her Facebook page, educating young and old about responsible dog ownership and how each dog is an individual.” – Toronto Top Dog Nominee, Zora
